Business Rep Lisa Sims along with CSR Lisa Mackenzie; Operating Clerk III Marykate Hoftender and CSR Sade’ Jeffries attended the 2024 6th District Progress Meeting, Women’s & RENEW Conferences held in Chicago from Tuesday, 9/17 to Thursday 9/19. IBEW 6th District International Vice President, Michael Clemmons opened and called the conference to order on Tuesday morning. Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza and State Representative Marcus C. Evans Jr, Assistant Majority Leader of the Illinois General Assembly both spoke and welcomed members as well as the IBEW International President Kenneth Cooper. The ladies heard status updates for the EWMC, the 6th District’s Women’s Committee & Veterans Committees. The ladies also attended a Professional & Industrial breakout session focused on Membership Development and the IBEW’s Leadership Education & Planning for Organizing (LEAP) updates. There were Government Affairs and Legal status updates provided as well as a speaker that addressed the Challenges & Opportunities of Workplace Mental Health.
